It sounds like the command you posted is is for single-server scenarios, where the global distribution is disabled and a specific value is assigned to the 'offlineaddressbooks' property of the OAB virtual directory. As usual they didn't really clarify that the procedure is different if you have only one server. We only have one Exchange server, so it's not really necessary for "all OAB virtual directories to accept requests" because there's only one. Which is what that Microsoft doc is saying. 'globalwebdistribution' and 'webdistribution' properties are both 'true', which came from me reading something somewhere that indicated it was supposed to be enabled to resolve issues of the OAB not updating. The Outlook configuration test does return a valid URL that points to the OAB GUID on the Exchange Server, which is in the OAB directory under "ClientAccess" and is both the correct GUID and has those OAB files present. Web distribution and global web distribution are enabled on the default OAB.Īs I said, this worked fine until very recently and not much has changed, so I'm not sure what's going on here, and searches for the particular error code in Outlook have turned up little that's useful for Exchange 2016. The URLs for all virtual directories are configured correctly. The arbitration mailbox exists and is configured correctly. Numerous "update-offlineaddressbook" commands have done nothing to fix this either. So, is there supposed to be an entry there, and if so, how do I either update it or fix it? I already recreated that virtual directory and it did not populate that property automatically, so now I'm stumped.unless of course it's supposed to be empty. I cannot find a way to add an OAB name here, but it would seem there should be something there since that's where Outlook is looking to find what to download (presumably). Not sure why it stopped working, but I cannot find anything that indicates a problem except for this: when I run "get-oabvirtualdirectory | fl" and look at the various properties, the "offlineaddressbooks" property is empty. Everything in all the virtual directories and all the other things the other threads have said to check look correct, and it used to work until really recently (like a couple of weeks ago). I can't get Outlook 2016 to download an updated copy of the offline address book from our Exchange 2016 server (keeps giving error 0x80004005).
